After over 50 years of development the Mac Barens Scottish Mixture was introduced in 1958 and was an instant hit. And now after more than 50 years of production it is firmly established as one of Mac Baren's all time classics.
The Scottish Mixture is made from more than 35 different tobacco leaves sourced from every corner of the world. Each leaf has its own special qualities and only by blending them in the right proportions does the Mixture achieve its unique flavour.
The majority of the loose cut tobacco is light, sweet Virginia. One of the secrets behind the lingering pleasure that the Scottish Mixture gives is that some of the Virginia and Burley tobacco leaves are put through a time consuming and meticulous, maturing process under carefully monitored pressure before being carefully loosened up by hand. This makes it easier to fill into the pipe, while giving Mixture the added advantage of burning slowly. But even the best crafted Virginia and Burley tobacco is not the finale to this creation. The finale comes in the form of Mac Barens specially produced loose cut Cavendish. Contrasting with the light Virginia tobacco, Cavendish is not only a joy to look at, it also gives Mixture the final nuance of taste that completes the blend. The carefully balanced aromatic top flavour, together with the tobacco leaves, makes the Scottish Mixture a unique blend.
Ready Rubbed Pipe Tobacco: The Mac Barens Scottish Mixture Pipe Tobacco is a ready rubbed tobacco blend. Ready rubbed tobacco is made up of loose strands and is ready for immediate use in the pipe with no preparation for added convenience and enjoyment.
