Charles Rattray's Beltane's Fire Briar Pipes Beltane is the Gaelic May Day festival most commonly held on the 1st of May and is mentioned in some of the earliest Irish literature. It marked the beginning of summer when the cattle were driven out to the summer pastures. Special bonfires were kindled and their flames smoke and ash were deemed to have protective powers. All the hearth fires were extinguished and then relit from the Beltane's Fire. The Bullmoose shape, first seen in 1930 is a hybrid of a Bulldog and Rhodesian. Each pipe come's with 3x 9mm mouthpieces in different colours: Black as the night, Red as fire and Yellow as the sun. Inspired by Beltane's Fire.
9mm Absorbent Filter The Charles Rattray’s Beltane's Fire pipes are designed for use with the any 9mm absorbent stem filters. The larger diameter allows more smoke to pass through the filter, with less restriction, which makes for a better draw compared to the 6mm filters. The highly absorbent filters have a very high surface area resulting in excellent absorption of the tar as the smoke passes through without affecting draw or flavour.
The pipes have a standard 9mm bore so can be used with any brand of 9mm filter if preferred. Alternatively the filter can be removed altogether for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full on smoke.
