Chacom Pipes (St Claude) Chacom is a family owned company who can trace their pipe making heritage to 1825 before Briar was even discovered. They are based in St Claude which is widely recognised as the pipe making capital of the world. They are one of very few pipe manufacturers who make pipes from start to finish. From ageing the Briar right through to hand finishing.
Chacom Selected Straight Grain Pipes Every now and then the pipe graders come across an exceptional block of Briar and feel that it should be made into something much more special than the general range that makes up 95% of their production. The Selected Straight Grain 123 is a stunning example picked out of the grading pile for it's flawless ring grain that ecompasses the bowl and shank. It's a larger than average straight billiard finished in a rich reddish brown stain which highlights the beautiful grain pattern. The pipe is finished with a hand cut tapered stem inlaid with a solid nickel chacom logo.
Filter Choice The Chacom Straight Grain pipes can be smoked with a 3mm condensing filter (adaptor included) or a 9mm absorbent filter. The larger diameter of a 9mm filter allows more smoke to pass through the filter, with less restriction, which makes for a better draw compared to the 6mm filters. The highly absorbent filters have a very high surface area resulting in excellent absorption of the tar as the smoke passes through without affecting draw or flavour. The pipes have a standard 9mm bore so can be used with any brand of 9mm filter if preferred. Alternatively the filter can be removed altogether for smokers who prefer a totally unrestricted smoke.
