Parker Pipes Dunhill seconds? Wrong! Think more Dunhill failings! Dunhill pipes are highly regarded as being the epitome of the pipe smoking world. There is no better pipe than a Dunhill. The Mediterranean's finest Briar is reserved for Dunhill and no expense is spared in scouring the markets to source the best briar. Briar is a natural product and it is only when the root is carved or finished after a long period of seasoning that the grain pattern is revealed. If the grain pattern doesn't live up to the very strict standards to warrant the Dunhill stamp it simply doesn't get stamped.
So what do they do with this very high quality briar that could make an exceptional pipe but doesn't quite warrant the Dunhill stamp? They sell it for very expensive kindling right? Erm no! In 1922 Dunhill opened a parent brand where Dunhills craftsmen finish the pipes to a near Dunhill standard and mark it as a Parker instead. So if you want an exceptional smoking pipe that is cosmetic perfection you buy a Dunhill. If you want an exceptional smoke and can live with near perfect aesthetics with a substantially reduced price tag you buy a Parker!
Parker Jockey Club Finish The Parker Jockey Club is the entry level Parker but still utilises the same quality Briar as it's more handsome brothers so will provide an exceptional smoke for the price tag. There are usually more natural defects in the grain than the Bruyere but still remarkably less than we would expect for a pipe of this price to the point the untrained eye would not notice them without closely inspecting the pipe. The Jockey Club is finished in a deep Brown stain for a more traditional look before being finished with a quality ebonite mouthpiece.
Condensing Metal Filter The Parker Jockey Club Briar pipes incorporate the re-usable metal filter system. The metal filter is suspended in the middle of a moisture trap, which forces the smoke to spiral round the cool metal before entering the stem. This causes condensation, which naturally removes tar and moisture deposits from the smoke trapping them in the shank for a cool pleasant smoking experience. Simply wipe clean in between smokes. The metal filter can be removed altogether for smokers who prefer a totally un-restricted full bodied smoke.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a generic image that we have taken from a random selection of this pipe model from our stocks. It is unlikely to be the exact pipe you will receive. Due to the nature of the raw material used and this being a handmade product there will be some variation in grain, colour and finish. There could also be a slight variation in the dimensions provided.
