Charatan Pipes

Charatan Pipes, established in London in 1863 by Frederick Charatan, began as a small family business specialising in high-quality hand-carved meerschaum pipes. As briar became more popular in the late 19th century, Charatan transitioned to crafting briar pipes, gaining a reputation for producing some of the finest pipes in the world. Known for their meticulous craftsmanship, Charatan pipes became synonymous with luxury and elegance, attracting pipe enthusiasts worldwide.

The brand flourished in the early 20th century, becoming a competitor to other prestigious pipe makers such as Dunhill. Charatan’s pipes, particularly its freehand shapes, were highly sought after for their individuality and beauty. In 1960, Dunhill acquired Charatan, though the brand retained its distinctive style and commitment to quality. Today, Charatan Pipes continue to represent the pinnacle of British pipe-making, offering smokers pipes that blend tradition, craftsmanship, and timeless design.
